Underground skills for the Japan’s “out-placed”

This japanese staffing agency, Pasona, is actually talking about skills for out-placement. That is, the firing of the worst-of-worst, the unneeded employees of Japan Inc and dumping them into Japanese toy farming–the world’s least efficient and unprofitable agricultural sector. However these out-placed employees being handled Pasona they could take these “underground” skills and build some profitable enterprises in the hemp fiber industry.

As big cities go, Tokyo is really quite cultivated

Just below the pavements in the busiest part of Tokyo – where working attire is spotless suits and ties – a staffing agency [Pasona Corp.] is getting its hands dirty with an unusual new business. It is nurturing an underground farm.
The farm spreads through six subterranean rooms, over an area of 1,000 square metres, that used to serve as a bank vault in the Otemachi Nomura Building.
…Pasona is quick to point out that the produce grown in the former bank vault will not – yet – end up feeding some of the residents of Tokyo, emphasising that, as a provider of personnel, the company regards it as a “training facility” for young people who are interested in a job in agriculture, or those considering a career change….…more…
