…Are people of the world ready for heated toilet seats, warm-water bidets with adjustable nozzles, blow-dry air and automatic flushing?
Yes? OK. Then, how about toilets that play music and release fragrances of the user’s choice?
In countries like China and the United States, they might be a tough sell.
…in 1996 Toto aired a controversial TV commercial featuring an actress saying, “The bottom wants to be washed, too.”……Since February, Toto has been airing a TV commercial in China featuring popular actress Kelly Chen, who asks viewers, “Have you started washing?”
….The United States appears to be even tougher [market]. From a technical aspect, electrical wiring needs to be carefully guarded because in the country, toilets are located next to bathtubs….

I can’t help it since Japan’s hi-tech lavatories so far ahead they’re now making a slash in markets in the rest of the world.
Heated seats are universal (since Japan hasn’t invented central heating yet) and the majority of home toilets come festooned with chearful buttons and control panels. The standard joke here is about gaijin/foreigner being confused with the mish-mash of Japanese characters explaining the different functions—on occasion I’ve even have been caught by surprise when a hidden bidet starts squirting like Dancing Waters(tm) rather than simple flushing. D’oh!
In Tokyo I have an ancient 5-year old Toto with a butt-sprayer, bun warmer and fanny fan. Nowadays, new models generally come with an ion zapper, auto-up lid and wireless wall mounted remote controls. Those “wireless wall mounted remote controls” are very handy out on my farm when we installed our first flush toilet last year. The wireless wall mount means you can clearly see the color LED control panel to better rather than trying peek over my ample ass
