Divorce rates at 50-60%, “soulmates” ending with the 70s Me Generation, and much of the American landscape resembling “American Beauty” with its mainly vacuous relationships doesn’t make a non-VR world (including those fully functional robot dolls, interactive web sites w/Goggles, etc) any more appealing these days.
I suspect that Levy’s “Sex and marriage with robots” is inevitable given our currently increasing dependence upon technology for both work and our social interactions (i.e. Myspace.com).
