Stinky natto dumped on top of white rice is the breakfast bioterror of most gaijin/foreigners in Japan.
It’s an “acquired” taste.
Many Japanese won’t eat it… it’s consumed mostly in the eastern Kanto region. Natto has a strong smell, like cheese and when it is stired for eating it generates a mass spiderweb-like strings. I’ll eat it if served to me but I normally won’t buy it.
