Northern air route to Japan closed — No reason given
Major Air Route Closed–No Reason Given
Whitley Strieber’s Unknown Country
A temporary flight restriction has been issued by the FAA for a major North Pacific air corridor, covering air routes R-222, R-580 and A-590. The restriction covers the dates September 10-15. The closure of these major routes is highly unusual, is said to be due to a Department of Defense Strategic Defense Initiative, but the nature of that initiative has not been revealed….An airline pilot comments, “I have never seen a major international route closed like this.”…
This is very strange bit of unreported “news.” There were only 3 google hits on the keywords for that warning. However, those routes are near the proposed Ground-Based Interceptor launch sites in the mid-pacific region. Of course, there’s nothing meaningful in relation to this on the FAA site or US Dept of State travel site: Current Travel Warnings.
Weird… or maybe not.
One friend of mine is saying, “the amount of military com traffic has picked up considerably in the last couple days.” If somebody was paying me I could dig out most of the details from public records that are not online. There’re just some new testing of crappy never-gonna-function-100%-right ‘Stars Wars’ defence system. Back in January 2003, the Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Extended Test Range (ETR) was “proposed” at this air route. Most likely, it’s a done deal and they are testing there this week.
