Japan out of Iraq by early 2006
Japan may pull troops out of Iraq in early 2006
TOKYO—-Japan is currently studying a plan to pull its 600 troops out of southern Iraq in the first half of next year,…Japan had begun looking at the withdrawal of the force, which does reconstruction work in the southern city of Samawa, because a new Iraqi government was likely to be formed by the end of the year.
I never meet a Japanese person who thought Japan should be in Iraq to begin with, especially military folks connected to the SDF (Japan’s Self Defence Forces).
The polls in Japan wildly claim 40-50% support, which is an insane lie.
The loaded question in these polls ask people on the street is, “Does Japan have to support the US in Iraq?” Japanese will whine and say, “Yes. We have to do it, don’t we?” A normal Japanese will never say, “Let’s go and kick ass!”
If the government-controlled polls were honest, the proper question would be, “Should Japan send troops to Iraq because it the right thing to do.” The honest answer, from 99.9999999% of the Japanese population would be, “Japan should not send troops.”
