Kyodo News – Crimes/Accidents, Oct. 12 20:26 Boy dies after friend locks him inside suitcase

Okinawa boy, 6, dies in suitcase
Oct. 9, 2005, NARA Japan: …The boy was pronounced dead shortly after being taken to a hospital. The victim’s 32-year-old mother came home from work and found the suitcase in the entrance of her apartment. She discovered the boy inside when she tried to lift it……more…

Yikes! Two suitcase deaths in one week—It sounds like a trend.
And… don’t miss my report of last February of a suitcase crime that is still unsolved by the lazy J-cops: Housewife wacked & dumped in the Yokohama Park next to my house.

UPDATE: The two reports above are actually the same suitcase murder.

Boy, locked in suitcase, dies
Agence France-Presse, October 12, 2005…The boy asked his seven-year-old friend in Naha, Okinawa prefecture to close the case after he climbed inside it…The friend, whose name was withheld, left him inside and went home because he could not reopen the suitcase.

wow… it’s interesting that the rest of the world still talks about Japan as a place where none of those things happen. drive by shooting? in Tokyo??
I wonder for how long will the myth of “the safest place on earth” live in the same sentence with “Japan”…
