‘Crackdown’ on Japan’s sex industry
Law on sex industry revised
TOKYO: ….The revised Entertainment Establishments Control Law….will require operators of sex parlors to check and collect documented work permits of their employees. Advertisements by non-registered sex industry establishments will also be subject to fines of up to 1 million yen, while penal provisions have also been established for the distribution of sex-industry leaflets to homes….

This so-called “crackdown” on sex industry is an amusing farse. As shown in the photo of a Japanese phone booth on the right, these “chirashi” sex advertisements are plastered inside the telephone booths of downtown Tokyo in violation of dozens of laws —- the police do nothing but smile.
Cops like the Pinku Chirashi (ピンクã¡ã‚‰ã—)—the small flyers advertising sex-related businesses–those businesses well contribute to police associations. Likewise, the police ALWAYS have been required to check work permits of the sex-biz employees…but somehow the cops seem to forget to do this. Sheesh.
