Easy breezy, and a Japanesy 23 years old
Happy birthday to J-pop mega-star Hikuru Utada who become 23 years old on Jan 19.
For the past two years ago she has seriously tried to break into the US market. Her best effort was hitting number 160 on the US Billboard Pop chart with “Easy Breezy” with the main lyrics….
I still remember the ways that you touched me.
Now I know that I don’t mean anything to you.
You’re easy breezy, and I’m Japanesy
Even though she was born and raised in New York her singing voice has an odd accent so I guess she is “Japanesy” as her lyrics to Easy Breezy.”
Listen to “Easy Breezy” here: REAL Player or Windows Media Player.
Needless to say such lyrics are a flop, however she’s seems to have carved a niche in video game music and promotion. In the fall of 2004, her Nintendo commerical for the Touch DS(tm) touchscreen game console is amusing—She says, “Trying touching” as she presents the hole in the bodice of her dress forward and bows.

Also there are rumors that she’s turning into a tub-o-lard from living in the US.
The “fatest” recent pictures I could find of her came from her December release “Passion” (the theme song for “Kingdom Hearts II”
game software). Since her husband is a photographer, nothing terrible was released from the photo shoot.

Although I am not a fan of Utada or her music, her current TV commercial for FOMA looks fine (just head shots).
From more information, refer to her websites at Utada.jp and Hikuru UTADA Official Website of Toshiba-EMI website.

You forgot to mention the “Exodus ‘04″ was number one on the billboard dance charts when it was released ;)

Impressive, but everything she releases in america is catergorized under “dance.”
Also, I cannot find confirmation of that No.1 figure from billboard: Exodus ‘04 reached #24 on Billboard Hot Dance/Club Airplay.
