Japanese zero gravity crossdressing
On the Runway: Spacewear Meant to Dazzle, Even in Zero Gravity
New York Times–May 16, 2006
On the grounds that you have the right to look as stylish in heaven as on earth, the Japanese space agency, JAXA, and Rocketplane Ltd., a space tourism company in Oklahoma, are sponsoring a space fashion contest for clothes that look good in zero gravity. The best designs will appear in a fashion show in Tokyo this fall.
“I hope ‘fashion in space’ makes everybody happy,” said Eri Matsui, a Tokyo fashion designer who presides over the Hyper Space Couture Design Contest. ….Ms. Matsui, known for her mathematically inspired designs, has fashioned a zero-gravity wedding dress… she had tested the dress, which is really a clever pantsuit, by having a man wear the bottom part of the garment on the flight of a so-called vomit comet, an airplane that creates brief durations of zero gravity by flying on a parabolic trajectory…more...
This is odd in so many ways:
- Is a zero-gravity wedding dress needed?
- Is a zero-gravity wedding dress really needed to be worn by a guy?
- Does a zero-gravity, wedding dress really needed to be worn by transvestite on the “Vomit Comet”?
- And most importantly… Does this dress make my zero-G butt look too big?
