The hojihoji-zoku (ホジホジ属) the nose picker tribe rule Japan. Nose picking on the trains and public is common in Japan. One of my favorite Japanese phrases is: “Hana tsumamare temo wakaranai hodo kurai: “It is so dark that you can’t tell who’s picking your nose.”
