Turkey : Exporters eye Japanese clothing market

Continuing on its rapidly growing foreign trade, Turkey has now set its eye on Japan's $70 billion clothing import market.
During a fashion expo held in Tokyo by Istanbul Textile and Apparel Exporters Association (ITKIB), Kursad Tuzmen, Turkish State Minister whlile inaugurating the expo said it was imperative that exporters work hard to penetrate Japan's clothing market. Turkey targets to expand its export to Japan from $150 million to $500 million.
Tuzmen regretted the fact that despite Turkey being the forth largest apparel exporter, its share in Japan's market was abysmal 0.5 percent.
Japan's biggest department store, Takashimaya Deputy General Manager Yukino Sino said that Japanese customers were tilted towards European and US market but was optimistic that they will show interest towards Turkish products.
