‘Puffed up and provocative’ soon in Japan

“Puffed up and provocative,” Michelin man is Madrid art attraction
Monday, November 13, 2006 (EST) MADRID (AFP) – The exhibition shows some of the iconic pictures of the rubber-faced character, which has been the Michelin company’s mascot since 1898 …The exhibition will shortly set off on a tour of several European capitals and also visit the United States and Japan …
As a character, the Michelin Man–”Bibendum”, is very popular in Japan. As a product the Japanese could care less about Michelin. Oddly, even 25 years ago Japanese were total crap—I had to replace my Japanese Bridgestone tires in less than 15 months with Michelin tires on my new Toyota.
Anyway, I predict this Michelin exhibit with the Michelin Man packed 4-deep with Japanese when it arrives in Japan next year. The Japanese looove “cute” sumo-size, Bibendum-kun, Michelin Man. Right now in the UK has this Michelin exhibit that runs till the end of November. Also check the official website: Michelin Japan in Japanese (日本ミシュランタイヤ)

Today’s Japanese language lesson:
“I feel like I’m the Michelin tire man.”
「ミシュラン・タイヤ・マンになったような気がする」
