Large squid are commonly caught off the coast of Japan. But yikes, this one displayed in a parking lot of a wholesale fish market in Tohoku Japan yesterday is the KRAKEN! Wait, wait. I think I hear the The Call of Cthulhu now.

UPDATE: BoingBoing just “found” my report four months after I posted it. I reported this on July 27, 2006 but somehow Laughing Squid’s blog just received the picture without explanation. Bang—Now it’s the talk of all the Internet blogs. The photo is from the Japanese newswires. The squid was in the parking lot of a wholesale fish market somewhere in northern Tohoku Japan. The image was labeled “tohoku_shijou .jpeg”, which means the ‘Tohoku [district] wholesale [fish] market’.

Wait, no! This is really a photo of the aftermath of overly vigorous tentacle sex in that parked Daihatsu Opti minicar. Refer to some of my many tentacle reports: 1), 2), and 3).

  1. The sleepy folks at BoingBoing just “found” my report after four months. Sheesh.

I reported about this squid here in the news.3yen.com way back on July 27, 2006. Laughing Squid’s blog received the picture without explanation and bang…now it’s the talk of blogsphere.
