Non-Japanese neo-Shunga

Shunga (春画), literally ‘pictures of spring.’ is a charming Japanese euphemism for erotic pictures. Typically these are woodblocks such as the Hokusai above. I have covered this topic before on the 3Yen in my report way back in January 2005: Shunga”, an official “National “Treasure” is banned in Japan.
However, today I found this modern series, “Of Shunga and Monsters“—in the typical Japanese shunga style of near incomprehensibility of who is doing what to whom.
Enjoy the puzzle of porn.

The picture above called ‘Nuke Death Orgy’ is is from Howie Tsui’s art series online, “Of Shunga and Monsters.” See howietsui.com for the detailed close-ups when you are not at work. Howie Tsui’s art is almost as odd as his lifestory which he describes as: “Ho Yan (Howie) Tsui was born on January 19, 1978 in Hong Kong.. rejoined their family in Lagos, Nigeria. …went on safaris in Kenya..got a concussion on the London Bridge… confronted ghosts… in Manilla.. family immigrated to Thunder Bay…currently painting and illustrating in Ottawa, Canada.”
