The Goth-Loli scene here in Japan is big and it has been going for at least 15 years. There a certain design “sense” which has carried on since the early 90s, but the changes from to season to season are fun for to watch.

Those are not Gothic Lolita.
I don’t know what the first one is, but the second one is Punk Lolita.
Gothic Lolita is more Victorian-looking.

Yeah, yeah, I know. The first photo is just one of several gender freaks that the photographer, Masayuki Yoshinaga, threw into the “Goth & Loli“ photobook.
The second photo was featured in official press release for the Gothic & Lolita Bible. The fashion is more representative of the general Harajuku scene, as you have already noted.

Ah, Taro-sama, things have so changed since the days of the retro ’50s fashion back in the day…with the Elvis wannabes…..perhaps that was why most of the anime of the ’80’s and ’90’s expected a post nuclear holocaust world in the 21st century….to avoid the downward trend of fashion….. :)

Actually, I was very surprised that the first photo in the photo gallery showed a “goth-loli” girl wearing a pink and black “poodle skirt” from Angelic-Pretty® that any girl from the 1950s would have been happy to own.

We all know what Goths are and how evil they are! Well, a Lolita is a preteen or teen girl who is a whore. Now they are trying to combine the two!
