Japanese Bon Odori Dance Video
Right now, Japanese Halloween aka “O-Bon” is gearing up and folks are dancing in the streets. Actually, most big companies are shutting down next week so people can return to their hometowns and visit and clean their ancestors’ graves.
THEREFORE, I’ve gotta work like a maniac since most engineering and software projects are due by Friday afternoon—-AND, I just received 1,500 pages of technical manuals to edit and have ready for publication the Monday after O-Bon, August 20th. Meh.
My posts here might be thin until the 20th, so expect more videos like this one from my drinking buddy, Rob Pongi.
Japanese Bon Odori Dance Video 2007
video features the traditional Japanese ‘BON ODORI’ (Bon Dance) that is performed in every major city throughout Japan every August during the Buddhist Obon holiday season. This… ‘BON ODORI’ dance festival…is performed in various styles and patterns depending on the region, but it is mainly celebrated as a reminder of the gratefulness one should feel toward one’s ancestors…kind of traditional group-oriented dance style is very interesting and very upbeat and just absolutely stunning to see, especially when witnessed live.
