Sony’s robo Rolly vs. Miuro vs. Cat
My wacky Tokyo buddy, Rob Pongi, posted kool videos of the Sony’s dorky dancing robot the “Rolly” that’s being released in the US. However, way back in August 2006 I reported on a ridiculously similar MP3 dancing robo-device, the “Miuro”, and I cannot imagine how Sony or Miuro is getting away with copying the other, sheesh.
Rolling robot takes the tunes with you
CNN.com – 12:36 p.m. EDT, August 31, 2006, TOKYO, Japan (AP) – The new Japanese robot Miuro turns an iPod music player into a dancing boombox-on-wheels. The 14-inch-long machine from ZMP Inc. blares music as it rolls and twists from room to room…The $930 Miuro — short for ‘music innovation based on utility robot technology’…
Visit Sony’s Japanese website for the Rolly and read the silly machine translation for details of the dancing robot.
