Japanese robots band together to defeat the Korean robot menace!

Japan companies unite to bring robots to homes
June 18, 2008 – AFP – TOKYO—… in a bid to create a mainstream market for robots and to stay a step ahead of rising competition from South Korea. The companies — Tmsuk, ZMP, VStone, Business Design Laboratory Co (BDL)….Tmsuk president Yoichi Takamoto warned Japan’s standing could be overtaken by high-tech neighbour South Korea, which has set a goal of a robot in every household by as early as 2013…more...
Pictured above is the BANRYU-T73S home security robot of Tmsuk Co. that has multiple sensors to detect intruders, smoke, fire, etc. in an empty house and then reports the potential problem via a cell phone to the home owner.
I have featured Tmsuk’s robots before on the 3Yen in:
— Japanese robot gets kissie-kissie ,
— Robot Samurai takes on shrine maidens, and
— Roborior! Roborior! Roborior! (see right)
However, the new Japanese “Association for Maket [sic] Creation of the Future Generation Robots,” may have some problems with its stated goal of marketing their products overseas when the association’s name and logo are spelled incorrectly. More entertaining is that nobody at the association’s first press conference at Tokyo on June 18, 2008 warned the four Japanese CEOs about the misspelled banner they were holding.
