Multisexual train for East Japan Railway Co.
Ok, ok, it’s really a “Multipurpose Test Train” and JR East is not pulling a train of Multisexual experimentation.

Oct 8, 2008 – Nikkei Online–East Japan Railway Company (JR East) will build a multipurpose test train, the “MUE-Train,” for carrying out tests to improve train performance…[the JR East] will test (1) the air spring style body tilting mechanism, (2) the improvement of the braking force in rain, (3) the improvement of the dolly performance (4) high-speed data communication and (5) speed measurement of the wind caused by the train…more…
According to impress.co.jp (in Japanese), the JR East plans a series of experiments for mobile WiMAX services for train information/guidance for passengers as well as better broadband data communication services for passengers in Japan’s high-speed trains.

Mobile WiMax? Yikes! Japanese trains are the one place where I can wean myself from teh itarweb and actually use my Powerbook for quasi-productive work.
