Actually working hard for a change…
Everybody pretends to work loooong hours in Japan, but actually I have been hard working for a change.
Why?
Right now most companies here are shifting their focus to R&D since there is zero demand for products. My “dayjob” is a patent reader, and preliminary patent applications are up by 400% for me this month.
Since most production lines in Japan are operating under “reduced hours” (the polite way Japan Inc. has for saying that it is has been shut down since January), employees remain on the payroll doing nothing but what you see in the video below (until they get fired).
