Here’s a new twist on Japanese kennels for drunk salarymen who missed the last train home at 12:20am “NetCapsule” hotel(wacky machine translation)

The real rest-of-the-story is that Japanese capsule hotels have fallen on hard times due to vastly better/cheaper manga cafes.
The original style of capsule hotels (Wiki) costing 3-4000 yen ($30-40 USD)a night has fallen into disfavor for the past couple years due to the popularity of manga cafes that offer for 1000 yen or less (under $10 USD) closed cubicles with comfy chase lounges, fiber Internet, game machines, free manga library, free drinks and often showers.
Obviously at those prices, manga cafes have become extremely popular people wanting a cheap night’s stay. There’s even a growing social problem of unemployed, homeless otaku called “net cafe refuges” living for months in manga cafes.
Here is a photo of a closed manga cafe booth from the same chain that I have stayed at a couple of years ago. I’m a big guy and I had a problem stretching out so I would hate to stay more than a couple nights. Then again, my feet hang out the capsules of capsule hotels too.

I got online this morning to check my email and mess around on facebook for a bit. Next thing I know it’s 7pm, my legs are totally numb, and I have this nasty trail of dried drool down my chin. That internet coma completely ruined my day!
