Japanese ‘Smile Dance’ campaigning in Shibuya, Tokyo
I’m off to hunt down and take some video of the “Smile Dance” campaigning of Mac Akasaka in Shibuya. He is running under the one-man “Smile Party” ticket for a seat in the Upper House of Japan, and this ought to be a show.*
In the meantime, check out today’s Reuters/Yahoo video of the ‘Smile Dance’ campaign.
Mac says cheese for Japan elections
Reuters – video script 2009/aug/27…. Election candidate, Mac Akasaka…”If I was just making speeches nobody would listen. But by doing my ‘Smile Dance’ people actually stop to listen and look up at me and so it works.”
Akasaka has also grabbed voters’ attention with his quirky “smile therapy” exercises.

さー Saaa, Shibuya “Smile Dance” no show, 残念だ zan’nen da/bummer.
The ultra-loony parties were not haranguing the crowds this afternoon, just the regular crazies from the not-so-Liberal not-so-Democratic not-any-fun-Party.
