The political word-of-the-day is ‘Kintaro-Ame’
, a candy-cane Japanese confection than no matter how it is cut always looks the same.
Kintaro-Ame is an apt metaphor for yesterday’s landslide win of Japan’s doubtfully-Democratic Party of Japan over the not-soLiberal not-soDemocratic not-so-funParty’s de-facto dictatorship of the past 65 years.

Almost all J-politicians could benefit from a good haircut and a bit of restraint on the black-shoe-polish hair dye, but none of them seem to so adamantly go about cultivating a freakish ‘do as The Insect. It looks like some kind of weird hybrid between Jiffy-Pop Popcorn
and those aliens on the pilot episode of Star Trek.
