Japanese word-of-the-day — ‘Kintaro-Ame’

The political word-of-the-day is ‘Kintaro-Ame’ , a candy-cane Japanese confection than no matter how it is cut always looks the same.

Kintaro-Ame is an apt metaphor for yesterday’s landslide win of Japan’s doubtfully-Democratic Party of Japan over the not-soLiberal not-soDemocratic not-so-funParty’s de-facto dictatorship of the past 65 years.

   Almost all J-politicians could benefit from a good haircut and a bit of restraint on the black-shoe-polish hair dye, but none of them seem to so adamantly go about cultivating a freakish ‘do as The Insect. It looks like some kind of weird hybrid between Jiffy-Pop Popcorn
   and those aliens on the pilot episode of Star Trek.

   Weird but Japanese are into weird hair.
   Have you ever noticed the “manga hair” styles worn by my most “hosts” of Japanese host clubs?
