Japanese word-of-the-day — ‘Kintaro-Ame’

    During his first stint as DPJ leader, Hatoyama allowed his party to poke fun at him when they nicknamed him the “alien” in a jab at his facial appearance and sold figurines portraying him as a bug-eyed extra-terrestrial….

    Almost all J-politicians could benefit from a good haircut and a bit of restraint on the black-shoe-polish hair dye, but none of them seem to so adamantly go about cultivating a freakish ‘do as The Insect. It looks like some kind of weird hybrid between Jiffy-Pop Popcorn
    and those aliens on the pilot episode of Star Trek.
