Japanese jellyfish sweets?
Over on the PinkTentacle.com,
they have an amusing story on how Japanese high school girls have come up with a way the defeat the invasion of giant jellyfish that has been plaguing Japan for the past few years by making them into jellyfish candies.
YUM, jellyfish candies!

Here’s a list of 3Yen reports over the years of this “news” of giant killer jellyfish:
—PANIC! Killer jellyfish invading Japan! 2008-02-09
—INVASION OF THE NUCLEAR JELLYFISH! 2006-07-20
—The Attack of the Killer Jellyfish! 2007-02-20
—Attack of the giant jellyfish! 2005-12-08

BOTTOM LINE: The Japanese have wiped out every worth eating from the sea, so all that remains to eat is jellyfish (and Japanese)…more…

I wish they would convert the jellyfish to a more edible protein source like the Japanese do with their fake crab meat and Kamaboko pressed fish cake.

I don’t mind eating jellyfish sliced like noddles occasionally, but it’s so boring nobody wants to eat on a regular basis. Cold Shredded Jellyfish …In Japan kurage/jellyfish tastes like nothing–like unflavored jello made from fish. As a food, it’s just boring.
So, why eat it?
Simple…Due to over-fishing and maybe global warming the ONLY plentiful seafood is jellyfish alone with algae and seaweed. The Japanese have wiped out everything worth eating, so all that remains to eat is jellyfish (and Japanese).

Today’s Fun Factoids via The Times and DiversSite.com:
• A collection of jellyfish is known as a smack.
• In some places jellyfish density is reported to be a hundred times higher than normal. Worst of all, no one yet understands why. One theory is that global warming is heating up the seawater and encouraging jellyfish breeding.
