Is this really the No. 1 Japanese Rock Album of all time?
Over on the WFMU’s Beware of the Blog, on their radio show, Mining the Audio Motherlode (MP3s), they have posted an MP3 to the “Greatest Japanese (Soft) Rock Album Ever” according to Rolling Stone Japan’s 100 Greatest Japanese Rock Albums.
Happy End ~ “Kazemachi Roman”
From the album: Taifuu (MP3) [the first album listed towards the top of the page]

I just listened to almost half of the mp3 and I can assure you that the answer to your inquiry is “NO” or in NIHONGO “ZENZEN CHIGAIMASU”

It’s one of my favourite Japanese rock albums of all time. If you dislike the album, it is at least undeniable that Kazemichi Roman is one of the most influential Japanese albums of all time. I would recommend picking it up if you are looking for some great 70s folk rock.

I didn’t say I “disliked” the album, and I have many はっぴいえんど cuts in my iTunes (see below).

I was just wondering out loud what constitutes “great” Japanese rock in the stinky heap of Japanese douche-rock.
