Tokyo’s ultra-nationalist governor, “Blinky” Ishihara, wants to buy Senkaku Islands that are located 2,000 km (1,242 miles) from Tokyo and claimed by China*. Perhaps he wants the Senkaku Rocks for Tokyo’s new picnic grounds?

  1. He just wants to run around in his hotdog cosplay outfit, in a previous post by Taro, on an island where nobody in Japan can watch him look like an idiot…

  2. UPDATE:
Tokyo Metropolitan Government Wants Your Donation to Purchase Senkaku Islands
    EXSKF | FRIDAY, APRIL 27, 2012
The Tokyo Metropolitan government has set up a fund to collect donations for the purchase of Senkaku Islands. Nothing better to do for this whacky, jingoistic governor who continues to do absolutely nothing to clean up the contamination in Tokyo.
Oh by the way your donation is tax-deductible ….more…

  3. Your government says protest..so you do you Chinese rats! Burn down businesses that employ your own people like it was the LA Riots, and turn over your cheap replicas of Japanese cars. You can always take a bus to your Foxconn slave labor jobs. Soft power or not, the Japanese pinned your little sampan before it could get away.

  4. tokyo-gov-ishihara-two-shot-150x150Tokyo governor to visit disputed islands
    Channel NewsAsia | 24 August 2012
Tokyo’s outspoken governor said Friday he would visit a group of islands at the centre of a bitter territorial dispute with China in a move that could inflame a heated diplomatic spat.
Shintaro Ishihara, well-known for his nationalistic views, said he planned to land on the uninhabited East China Sea archipelago — called Senkaku in Japanese and Diaoyu in Chinese — in October…Japanese activists and local legislators also landed on the Japanese-controlled islands, despite warnings not to do so by authorities.
Ishihara, who has been soliciting public donations to buy the islands from their private Japanese owners, added that a team of surveyors, biologists and local politicians would visit the disputed chain next week.
"We will conduct a survey again in October. I will go at that time," Ishihara told Japanese media Friday.
"If I get arrested, that’s OK," he added.

  5. THE RISE AND FALL OF OLD-MAN ISHIHARA
    Izakaya Politics | 2014/07/01
Shintaro Ishihara, who served as Governor of Tokyo from 1999 to 2012, didn’t win the first time he ran for the position in 1975. Ishihara lost to the popular Socialist incumbent, Ryokichi Minobe. Minobe, who was 71 at the time, was criticized by Ishihara for being “too old” to run for such an important position.
