Actually Mosura (Mothra) is a confused creature that most closely resembles an Inachis io, or a European Peacock Butterfly and has with characteristics of a butterfly–Mothra is brightly colored, active in the daytime, holds her wings vertically when resting— and of moth–Mothra has a thick and fuzzy body, feathery antennae.
When it comes down to it, the taxonomic difference between butterflies and moths is confused and poorly distinguished. wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_butterflies_and_moths
