Diplomat Dennis Rodman’s success bodes bad for Japan

Kim-Jong-Un-Rodman

Judging from the TMZ.com headline below, Japan’s homeboy buddha (3Yen/ 2011-03-04), Steven Seagal, is obviously upset by Dennis Rodman’s diplomatic coup of recruiting Kim Jong Un to the NBA (TIME magazine / 2013Mar12). Japan’s favorite son, Seagal (3Yen /2006-10-24), must be very worried about the sworn enemy of Japan, North Korea, and the possible rapprochement with the United States and the NBA.

  1. In the book, The Cleanest Race: How North Koreans See Themselves and Why It Matters, the state’s ideology, “is a race-based worldview utterly at odds with the teachings of Marx and Lenin.” Propaganda celebrates with slavish devotion the glory of the Kim bloodline as well as the general purity of the North Korean race. An understanding of that fascist fervor led the late Christopher Hitchens to dub North Korea a “nation of racist dwarfs”–dwarfs because so many are stunted from malnourishment. In the state’s worldview, everyone else–the Chinese, the Japanese, the hated Americans, and yes, even Dennis Rodman—is suspect.

  2. Oh great. Now I can add “Dennis ‘the Worm’ Rodman in North Korea” and “Steven Seagal’s Whackadoddle Hairline” to “thousands of dead pigs in Shanghai river” to “locusts in Holy Land” to my harbingers list for The Sign of the Coming Apocalypse.

  3. Dennis Rodman is really brave considering his Butt-Buddy-for-Life© just had his ex-girlfriend machine gunned down.

  4. The Secret To Watching Steven Seagal Movies In North Korea
    womencitizen.com 18 October 2013 Cuma (Turkey)
Every week we ask a North Korean your questions, giving you the chance to learn more about the country we know so little about. This week Nikolay S. from Novsibirsk asks:
Q: What was it like to grow up in the capital city Pyongyang? If life is as good as people say there, what made you leave?

When I tell people I’m from Pyongyang, it always raises their attention. People give me a surprising look and always show a keen interest in learning about my life there. They seem to have this fixed idea of North Koreans from Pyongyang – they see us performing mechanics at mass games or uncontrollably wailing over the death of Kim Il Sung. Often I feel they see me as if I came from ancient Rome or another planet

I still vividly remember listening to South Korean radio in secret with my friends, something that enabled us to learn about new emotions and feelings. What a little joy of freedom that gave me! Imagine taking out that small radio and listening to it while everyone is sleeping. I will never be able to forget the nights of longing for the world that seemed to have no pain and no sorrow.
I will never forget the time when a group of friends and I gathered, covering the window with a thick duvet and fastening two or three locks to the door so we could watch Steven Seagal action movies.
