ANGER from the Bottom . . . of Japan
Japan’s modern art can be Sugei
— “Wow!”
You can enjoy it best like a 12 year boy—Sugei!—such as when you encounter this eight meter tall, robo-art monster is called “ANGER from the Bottom.”
← “ANGER” was created by Beat Takeshi aka Takeshi Kitano the famed film director and Kenji Yanobe an artiste featured here before in (3Yen / 2009-03-28): Giant Torayan robot blows.
According to the always goofy Google Translate of the Mainichi newspaper:
In the ruins of old rock quarry outside in the town of Shodoshima in Kagawa Prefecture, “ANGER from the Bottom” is a water-breathing monster whose voice emerges from the, “Well of Wu.” Yanobe said that is,
a symbol of the connection between nature and people—like they are lost in a deep in a well of despair.![]()

The ANGER monster is being shown at The Setouchi Triennale 2013, a contemporary art show featuring the works of more than 200 artists from 23 countries and regions, opened on March 20 on a cluster of 12 small islands in the Seto Inland Sea in western Japan.
