The artist, Alex Gross, is currently based in Los Angeles, California but is a recipient of the prestigious Artists Fellowship from the Japan Foundation (refer to his Bio for more information).

  1. I wonder why the artist, Gross, has so many foreign faces in his Japanese scenes 1, 2, even though foreigners are not that widespread in Japan.
    Also, why are a lot of the Japanese females in the paintings wearing kimonos that look sort-of Chinese? The artist had a grant to stay in Japan for sometime and he should know the difference between Japanese and Chinese clothing.
