It’s my day — Boy’s Day national holiday in Japan

Monday, May 5th, is Boy’s Day, which is now hiding in Witness Protection and is called “Children’s Day” by the politically correct (kodomo no hi in Japanese).

Shown above is a postcard of Tokyo’s glitzy Ginza district featuring carp streamers that were set up to celebrate Boys’ Day 1959.

And, the photo below shows the Koinobori (carp streamers) flying in Sagamihara, suburban Tokyo where about 1,200 streamers hung across the river for this “Golden Week” holiday (3Yen / 2010-05-01).
