Rain

Here in Tokyo we’re in the peak of Japan’s rainy season. Japanese folks always ask me* where’s my umbrella and answer with the haiku of the poet Santoka Taneda (Wiki):

降るままぬれるままで歩く
furu mama nureru mama de aruku
Japanese block print by Hasui Kawase(image: Hasui Kawase)

”kyō mo nurete shiranai michi o yuku”
today again, soaking wet, / I walk on an unknown road

*I don’t and can’t use an umbrella since I walk on crutches, so asking me is, “duh.”
